Staying vs Gjestfri

Gjestfri is a focused, well-priced Norwegian tool for filling your calendar. Staying is a platform for earning more from the guests already in the building. If you rent out one cabin, read the honest assessment below before you switch.

Different jobs

One fills the calendar. One earns from the stay.

Gjestfri and Staying overlap on the basics, then go in different directions. Knowing which direction you need makes the choice easy.

Gjestfri

A Norwegian platform for private hosts: six modules covering the rental journey from listing to checkout, at one flat price.

  • 99 kr per month with everything included — hard to beat on price
  • Publishes to Booking.com and Airbnb with calendar sync
  • Built in Norwegian for Norwegian hosts, with a fast setup
  • Dynamic pricing, a direct booking site and a cleaning app included

Where it stops

  • Norwegian only — one language, one market, one currency
  • No in-stay revenue: no service catalog, ordering, POS or upsells
  • Built for the individual host, not a team with roles and permissions
  • No B2B channel — no travel agent portal, allotments or commission statements

Staying

A hospitality platform that turns the stay itself into revenue, then gives you the team, compliance and reach to run it at scale.

  • Guests order dining, activities, transport and wellness during the stay — you take a cut of each
  • POS, kitchen display, ticketing and gift cards for what you sell on site
  • 30 languages and 14 currencies, so you are not limited to one market
  • Roles for owners, admins, staff and support — plus a travel agent portal for group business
  • GDPR tooling, two-factor authentication and full audit logging

Questions

Staying vs Gjestfri, answered

You would not, if filling the calendar is all you need — Gjestfri is good value for that. Staying earns its price back somewhere else: on what guests buy during the stay. One breakfast basket, airport transfer or late checkout per booking usually covers the difference. If that is not part of your business, Gjestfri is the cheaper fit and we would rather you knew that up front.
Honest Assessment

When Gjestfri is the better choice

When Gjestfri is the right call

  • You rent out one or two places to Norwegian guests and want the lowest possible price — 99 kr is less than our paid plans, and our free tier may be tighter than you need
  • Publishing rates and inventory straight to Booking.com and Airbnb is your main job to be done — we sync calendars over iCal today, which blocks double bookings but does not push rates
  • You want six modules and one price, not a platform you grow into
  • You want everything in Norwegian from a Norwegian vendor, end to end

If you sell anything to guests during the stay, run more than a couple of properties, have staff, or take guests from outside Norway, Staying earns its price back on in-stay revenue alone.
